Scope of Position:
Sales Effectiveness Team members are focused on delivering results for the improvement of the business and sales processes within the Corning Life Sciences (CLS) Division. As such, a successful team member will clearly demonstrate the capacity for leadership, creativity, design-thinking, strong business acumen, and a commitment to deliver results to the organizations supported.
The Data Steward is responsible for providing Subject Matter Expertise as it relates to Data Governance, Data Quality and Data Management. The Data Steward will act as a chief custodian of CRM and related systems data and is responsible to ensure all data is accurate, properly authorized and integrated between all relevant systems. CLS is looking for an inquisitive and detail-oriented Data Steward with a passion for assessing and improving data and information quality, and to support our CRM systems and processes.
Day to Day
Responsibilities:
Data Stewardship and Governance:
Be the Gate Keeper in maintaining consistency and accuracy of all CRM customer data and other data domains
Identify ownership and develop data governance framework
Improve efficiency and lower business risks by ensuring that the highest quality data is delivered managed and maintained via data governance strategy
Define data critical attributes and develop data standards, procedures and policies for master data domains
Develop catalogues and hierarchies to categorize master data and thus improving the decision making process
Analyze the current master data processes and develop strategies working with key stakeholders to improve process efficiencies and improve overall satisfaction of internal customers
Data Quality:
Work with business to develop and maintain data quality rules, procedures and policies
Develop dashboards/metric reports and conduct data profiling/analysis to measure effectiveness of data governance program within organization.
Define data quality KPIs and monitor and measure them against completeness, validity, accuracy, consistency, integrity and timeliness.
Resolve and escalate data quality issues, research and implement solutions to correct problems at the source where possible.
Implement and lead data cleansing activities.
Data Maintenance and Change Management:
Enter and maintain master data and provide guidance to other data team members to support business processes
Perform audits of data upon entry as well as review incoming requests for completeness and accuracy
Coordinate flow of information between all departments responsible for data elements
Creates and maintains documentation on the workflow process, with detailed roles and responsibilities
Champion change management and provide training

Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or any related field
Required Years and Area of
Experience:

Required Skills:
Associate with sufficient relative experience in data analysis or data stewardship or Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems or Mathematics,
An understanding of technology and systems flow and controls with experience in data stewardship, governance, or analysis

years working on CRM, Salesforce.com preferred (power user or admin a plus)
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of MySQL database technologies
Excellent analytical skills and demonstrated ability to effectively troubleshoot and provide master data strategies and solutions
Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to persuade/influence others at all organization levels
The ability to drive change and improve processes, organization and documentation
Ability to present details of complex data quality or workflow issues for internal review
Experience in creating or maintaining requirements documents, process flows, protocols and decision trees

years experience working as a SME (Subject Matter Expert) on Data Stewardship, Data Governance and Data Quality projects
Strong MS Office suite skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)
Desired Skills:
Analyst skills using MySQL, MS Excel, MS Access, Data.com, DemandTools, SFDC Service Cloud, D&B or other industry data provider content and processes
Experience in Cross-functional/Cross-Company, CRM projects is preferred
Individual or leadership experience in data quality assessment, cleansing, and improvement efforts
Data profiling or cleansing tool experience
Strong technical knowledge and understanding of master and reference data elements, processes and organizational support models is preferred
Other CRM related experience or CRM system integration experience (Work.com, Silverpop, Marketo, ExactTarget)
Soft Skills (Communication/Team/Leadership):
Ability to work independently and to prioritize work based on business value of the effort
Ability to effectively interface with senior management
Sense of urgency and good follow through
Strong work ethic with a positive, hands-on, can-do attitude
