Provides occupational therapy services for young adult and adult / elderly patient populations; to facilitate the rehabilitation of clients with psychological, developmental and/or physical disabilities or disorders. Screen/evaluate patient needs for occupational therapy; develop programs and implement plans; and conduct 1to1 and group occupational therapy activities for medically ill, mentally ill or developmentally delayed adults. Develop and implement treatment plans for patients requiring occupational therapy to achieve desired goals and objectives in accordance with OT standards of practice. Review as needed occupational therapy treatment plans prepared by subordinates. Provide supervision, on the job training and competency reviews for occupational therapists, COTA, interns, students etc to ensure effective delivery of services and compliance with departmental and agency policies. Recommend the establishment or revision of policies, procedures and standards governing unit activity. Prepare and conduct periodic employee performance reviews in accordance with agency policy. Determine the need for disciplinary action and either recommend or initiate disciplinary action in accordance with the agencies progressive disciplinary policies. Prepare reports to provide information concerning the content and effectiveness of occupational therapy treatment. Perform related duties such as maintaining records; providing technical advice to others; attending meetings and in service training; keeping abreast of the latest developments in the field; and inserviceing others as necessary. Maintaining an inventory of equipment and supplies, monitoring supply levels and condition, ordering supplies and recommending the repair and purchase of equipment.
Requirements
Applicants must have at least one year of full time or equivalent part time, professional experience as an occupational therapist. Possession of a current and valid occupational therapist license issued by the Board of Allied Health Professions in accordance with Chapter 667 of the Acts of 1982. Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operator license.
