IT Director, Corning Life Sciences and Corning Pharmaceutical Technologies

The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies.  Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.  IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.


Position Scope:

Responsible for the planning and implementation of technology solutions for Corning Life Sciences and Pharmaceutical divisions, acting as a liaison between business leaders and the Corporate Information Technology leadership. Builds and maintains strategic business relationships between IT Service Lines and business partners by understanding, anticipating, shaping, and bringing together demand for IT services. Key leader in developing the IT vision, strategy and roadmap for the Corning division to ensure long-term IT strategy is in alignment with business objectives. Drive future digitization to help transform the business for the future.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a primary account manager and trusted liaison between IT and business partners (e.g., you will participate in collaborative meetings with the business to gain an understanding of future direction and strategic objectives)

  • Understand, anticipate, and shape demand to ensure services deliver expected business value while adhering to IT total cost in alignment with industry benchmark.

  • Ensure all the IT systems supporting the business meets the designated Systems of Record, compliance requirements, capacity constraints, etc.

  • Partner with other IT service groups to define and refine business and functional requirements, develop business cases, and identify viable service options

  • Collaborate with your business partners to prepare short-term and long-term investments for technology investments and by developing total cost of ownership estimates necessary to plan and budget for IT services

  • Gather and assess feedback to ensure business partners are confident that services are meeting their needs and satisfied with the value IT services are providing

  • Solid grasp of IT department financial management including bill of IT, Portfolio investments, budgeting and forecasting. Is responsible to establishing overall budgets, schedules, and performance standards.

  • Provide dedicated communication on upcoming releases including information on how current services will be impacted and how new services may better serve existing or emerging business needs

  • Responsible for developing, implementing and carrying out policies, standards, and methodologies.

  • Lead personnel administration, including selection, training and personnel development.

  • Establishes operational objectives and assignments, and delegates assignments to subordinate managers.

  • Partner with business functions to ensure the divisions are following global IT standards in terms of business process and technologies.

  • Represents the organizational unit as prime internal and external contact on strategic or tactical matters. Conducts briefings for top management and other key partners.

  • High level understanding of business process and functional capabilities in manufacturing, quality, supply chain and commercial systems

  • Good understanding of business complexities related to Life Sciences and Pharma industry including the CFR compliance requirements

  • Clear understanding of plant IT operations including the infrastructure, network compliance, Manufacturing systems and local plant specific applications. Knowledge of CAMSTAR, OSIPI and quality systems will be desired.

  • Solid understanding of Merger and Acquisition Integration Process. Ability to lead large M&A integration program for IT to align with Transition Schedule agreement.

  • Familiarity with ERP systems like SAP or PeopleSoft. Solid grasp of commercial systems like SAP Hybris, SFDC, Marketo and pricing applications.

  • Ability to drive future digitization efforts for the division across all functions.

  • Financial Management for IT: Knows how to forecast, plan, budget, track, and allocate IT costs to align spending with strategic objectives and improve cost and price transparency for business partners. Understands the primary drivers of IT's cost structure and uses this to inform recommendations on how best to manage gross costs, and associated cost reduction and avoidance opportunities.

  • Demand Management: Ability to understand and anticipate short- and long-term information technology demand, as well as accurately predict demand trends, by assessing historical patterns of activity.

  • Business Process Management: Ability identify new and alternative approaches to performing business processes that result in significant improvements and measurable business benefits.

  • Communication and Engagement: Can communicate and engage across multiple constituencies in a way that influences service outcomes and steers toward change objectives. Communicates with honesty, clarity, directness and awareness of different cultures.

  • Leading and Managing Change: Can successfully lead the deployment of change while considering structural, strategic and cultural issues. Evaluates the financial, cultural, technological, organizational and people issues that may need to be addressed because of the business process change. Transform IT and business functions to drive the change for future Digitization.

  • Embedding IT Culture: Ability to establish and embed IT's desired culture through formal and informal leadership actions, behaviors and decisions. Consistently role models Corning Values and IT Norms. Reinforces IT culture through decisions to allocate resources, set priorities, measure performance and staff the organization.

  • Global Leadership skills: Ability to manage resources across the globe and to build talent to support the business in the region.


Experience:

  • 10-15 years of experience in the IT space, out of which 8-10 years expected as the senior management experience

  • Required minimum BS in Computer science or related field. MBA preferred.

  • Desired systems knowledge: SAP, PeopleSoft, SFDC, MArketo, Hybris, CPQ, CAMSTAR, OSIPI, Business Analytics (Power BI), ETQ

  • Travel required 20-30% Domestic & international

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
